Foys Bend Property Near Kalispell Open to Limited Hunting Through Drawing

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is accepting applications to hunt Foys Bend Fisheries Conservation Area (FCA) near Kalispell through a limited drawing.

Foys Bend FCA is a 245-acre property managed by FWP and located in the lower valley off Steel Bridge Road. Permission is required to hunt the property and is issued on a limited basis due to the size of the acreage. The lottery system aims to offer equal opportunity and better manage access to Foys Bend FCA, which is open to limited hunting of all species during upland game bird season, archery season, general hunting season, and migratory bird season. This property is also one of the sites where FWP will release pheasants this fall through its Roosters for Recruitment Program.

How to Apply

Applications can be received and submitted:

Application periods

  • July 15 – August 15 for September dates
  • August 15 – September 15 for October dates
  • September 15 – October 15 for November dates
  • October 15- November 15 for December AND January dates

Any dates not awarded through the drawings will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis, no more than seven days in advance. Hunters may reserve these dates only after the drawing period has passed.

Hunting Opportunities

  • Species: All species may be hunted on this FCA with valid licenses during the season.
  • Hunting Party & Hunting Days: Access will be awarded to a single party (no more than four people per party) and granted for a single day, Fridays - Mondays.

Notes

  • Firearms are restricted to shotgun, muzzleloader, or traditional handgun. Rifles are prohibited. Except for the firearm restriction, all other current FWP regulations regarding weapons in Hunting District 170 apply.
  • Recreational shooting and hunting of nongame animals are prohibited.
  • No hunting within 200 yards of any building.
  • Dogs are allowed only for hunting purposes.
  • Vehicle parking only at designated parking areas.
