Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation (TSSA) Partners With S3DA to Educate Youth

Williamsburg, KY – The Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation (TSSA) is a non-profit organization that focuses on tree stand safety and ensures that every hunter that uses a tree stand does so in a safe manner so that he or she comes home safe to their family and friends. The mission of the Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation is to significantly reduce tree stand incidents through promotion, education, and best practices.

As September was Tree Stand Safety Awareness Month, TSSA and S3DA partnered to educate youth members through an interactive quiz focused on tree stand safety. Participants also had the opportunity to sign a youth hunting saddle safety pledge, committing to make safety their top priority every time they hunt.

Every youth member who completed the quiz was entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Hunter Safety System harness and lifeline, Muddy Trail camera, and Realtree EZ Hanger Combo Set.

The lucky winners announced were:

  • Elizabeth Toor – Owensboro Archery Club, Kentucky S3DA

  • Madalynn Regan – Top Nock Archers, Wisconsin S3DA

  • Karayna Ulrich – Upstate Archery Academy, South Carolina S3DA

S3DA National Conservation Coordinator, Patty Reel said, “We look forward every year to continuing our partnership with TSSA. Having our S3DA kids take the Tree Stand Safety Awareness Quiz is such a great way to teach them the importance of being safe while hunting from elevated blinds. It’s all about giving them the knowledge and confidence to enjoy the outdoors responsibly.”

Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation, President Glen Mayhew said, “TSSA is pleased to partner with S3DA each year on this awareness initiative for tree stand safety. We know that a significant percentage of those involved in S3DA from across the country also hunt from tree stands making this a perfect partnership for TSSA helping support S3DAs mission of education and supporting conservation. Working together we foster a stronger community of next generation bow hunters that are knowledgeable about how to hunt safely from a treestand.”

Hunters and members of the industry alike can help spread the message of the TSSA Foundation. Visit the TSSA website at www.treestandsafety.org or visit www.facebook.com/TreeStandSafetyAwareness.
