Tennessee S3DA Hosts 3D State Championship at Buffalo Ridge Refuge

Williamsburg, KY – The 2025 Tennessee S3DA 3D State Championship brought together 140 of the state’s top youth archers and more than 300 spectators at the scenic Buffalo Ridge Refuge in Waverly, Tennessee. As one of the most anticipated events of the season, the championship marked the highlight of the TN S3DA 3D tournament calendar.

Buffalo Ridge, a long-time favorite venue for S3DA athletes and families, once again provided the perfect setting for competitive excellence and community celebration. The tournament offered participants the opportunity to showcase their skills in a challenging outdoor setting while fostering sportsmanship, focus, and family engagement.

Each year, this championship draws in archery enthusiasts from across the state, and 2025 was no exception. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) staff were instrumental in the success of the event, going above and beyond to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for all involved.

“The TWRA team has always been an incredible partner to us, and their support at Buffalo Ridge truly helps make this event what it is,” said Interim TN S3DA State Coordinator Robert Carter. “This championship is the culmination of months of hard work from our athletes and coaches. Seeing their growth and enthusiasm come together at a venue like this is what makes Tennessee S3DA so special.”

Youth archer Ruby Killian reflected on her experience, saying, “I was really excited for the 3D State Championship! I like getting to compete with so many good shooters—it makes it more fun. Buffalo Ridge is awesome. It's super pretty and the people from TWRA are really nice. I think it’s cool how they make it feel like a big national tournament, especially with the shuttles that take us to the ranges. I’m really thankful for everyone who works so hard to make it such a great event."

The championship wrapped up another successful season of 3D archery competition with TN S3DA experiencing continued growth, and athletes now looking ahead to national-level events as well as the upcoming Outdoor Target tournament series.
