Upcoming Events at Giant Springs and First Peoples Buffalo Jump Parks

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is hosting events at Tower Rock and Giant Springs State Parks on Sept. 14, and First Peoples Buffalo Jump is transitioning into winter hours this month.

Rob Quist Concert

The father and daughter duo of Rob and Halladay Quist will take the stage at Giant Springs State Park on Sept. 14 starting at 3 p.m., at a public concert sponsored by Pepsi and and Source Giant Springs. Admission is free, with a requested donation of a non-perishable food item to the Great Falls Community Food Bank. Attendees should bring seating of chairs or blankets, and their own food and drinks.

Weed pull at Tower Rock

To help native plants re-establish themselves after the small fire which occurred in August, Tower Rock State Park will hold a weed pull along the trail and in the burned area of the park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.14. Invasive spotted knapweed is likely to take over the area unless it is removed, so volunteers are needed to pull the weeds and protect this popular public area.

A limited amount of gloves and some tools are available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves along with plenty of water, a hat, sturdy boots and sunscreen. Close-toed boots or shoes and long pants are encouraged due to snakes.

Winter hours at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park

First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park will switch to winter hours on Monday, Sept. 16. From then until April 13, 2025 the visitor center and park entrance gates will be open Wednesday to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., and closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and holidays.

Walk-in access to the park is allowed until dark daily by parking outside the main entrance gate and also at the upper trailhead. The upper trailhead may be closed during deep snow events.
