South Dakota —This week on Winchester Deadly Passion airing Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET and Monday at 7 p.m. ET on Sportsman Channel, host Melissa Bachman takes her first rifle hunt of 2020 at one of her favorite locales, Deer Meadow Outfitters. Her track record at Deer Meadow for monster muleys is strong and she’s bound and determined to keep the streak going and knock down a giant – once again.

There’s no question that Deer Meadow Outfitters is the premiere location for giant bucks. Bachman has proven this on her show many times over. “I’m here during the Nebraska opener, which is prime rut time. The bucks are running and chasing does and you just have to be patient with them. Luckily, I am good at being patient!” shared Bachman.

The plains winds forced the deer into hiding as a front rolled in, which caused Bachman to re-evaluate. Using the winds to their advantage – as well as watching the bucks tire out chasing does – Bachman and her guide, Scott Kuhn, patiently waited. At 200 yards, she had a shot using the new Winchester6.8 Western. “It has the straight trajectory of a 6.5 Creedmoor with the knockdown power of a .300 Win. Mag. This Winchester cartridge was developed for longer shots and that’s exactly what I was facing.It performed perfectly,” said Bachman. “It dropped the mule deer in his tracks, which is exactly what I want to see.”
