TSSA and TMA Join Forces with Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas to Raise Tree Stand Safety Awareness

September is Tree Stand Safety Awareness month. It’s the month that many hunters across the country are preparing to head back to the woods and hang tree stands. We are excited to announce for the second year in a row Tree Stand Safety Awareness Foundation (TSSA) and the Treestand Manufactures Association (TMA) are working with Bass Pro/Cabelas to help promote safe tree stand practices.

Glen Mayhew, President of TSSA said, “we are pleased to continue working with Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas. Working together to promote the ABCs of Tree Stand Safety will help ensure their customers are coming home safe to their family and friends.” David Smith, Executive Director of the TMA stated, “we want everyone to have a safe 2024 season, remember to practice, slow down, stay connected, and come home safe.”

Bass Pro Shops/Cabelas, the trusted source for quality fishing, hunting, boating, and outdoor sporting goods, will be using a multi-faceted approach to engage their customers about the importance of tree stand safety.

Many Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas stores will have signage and educational information in their tree stand display areas from the TSSA and TMA on the principles of safe tree stand use. A tree stand safety awareness page has been developed (link below) that will include video content from Bass Pro/Cabelas Pro Staff about tree stand safety.

Lastly, a tree stand safety awareness quiz has been developed, and when completed, the customer gets a $20 discount toward the purchase of a new Hunter Safety System Harness.
