Inshore Fishing Association tournament open to anglers of all ages, with competition in three divisions throughout November
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Registration is open for the Bass Pro Shops’ Sunshine Slam Showdown, hosted by the Inshore Fishing Association and presented by Progressive, open to anglers of all ages.
The tournament runs from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30 and is being conducted in all Florida waters, with Boat, Kayak and Shoreline divisions. There will be $20,000 in guaranteed payouts, with the top 20 finishers in each division receiving prizes. Big fish prizes will be awarded weekly.
This open format event allows anglers to fish anytime throughout the month of November, out of any location in Florida, for the chance to win weekly and overall event cash prizes.
“I’m excited over the upcoming IFA statewide Florida competition, where anglers can compete for snook, redfish, and trout by using the eTournament Fishing App!” said George Poveromo, South Florida native and resident, and national seminar host and television host of George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing. “It’s the event format of the future.”
Judging will be based on anglers submitting the longest Redfish, Snook and Speckled Sea Trout, with the Grand Slam winner (per division) crowned for the combined total length of each participant’s longest single Redfish, Snook and Speckled Trout. The Grand Champion winner (across all divisions) will go to the angler with the best combined total length of their longest single Redfish, Speckled Sea Trout and Snook catches.
The tournament will be conservation-friendly, with a Catch-Record-Release format utilizing the E-Tournament Fishing App. After catching a fish, competitors will take a photo to prove the length of the fish, then release it back into the water, promoting health of the watershed and maintaining fish populations. Free measuring boards are available at any Bass Pro Shops location throughout the state of Florida, for all registered anglers.
To register, install the E-Tournament Fishing App, which is available in the iOS App Store here and in the Android App Store here. Once installed, open the app and navigate to the ‘Search Tournaments’ area and look up IFA. Select your division from the list and proceed with your registration.
