SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 8, 2022) - This week on Americana Outdoors presented by Garmin, we’re pulling our kids away from their screens and joining them in the great outdoors on several exciting adventures for our annual youth hunt! Over the course of this episode we’ll see familiar faces returning to camp, and hunting everything from their first deer to management deer, all the way up to exotics!
The episode kicks off with Garmin’s very own Steve Lovell returning to camp with his son Isaac for our annual youth hunt! In the past, Isaac has worked his way up from hunting does to bucks, and even helped out with some herd management of our wild hog population. Now, he has his eyes set on exotics, specifically, an aoudad ram. Over the course of several days, Isaac will utilize the Stealth Cams we have set up around our property to gauge where aoudad are converging, thus maximizing his chances of getting close to the herd. With so much land to cover, Isaac uses the Yamaha Wolverine RMAX4 1000 LE to traverse the wild Texas terrain in search of his prized aoudad. Tune in and see if Isaac is able to take a shot on one of these hardy animals!
Taking our kids out to their first hunt is always an exciting adventure, and sometimes we don’t know who’s more excited, us or the kids! Chloe Giesecke has grown up watching her father and older siblings go hunting, and now it’s finally her turn. One of the most important lessons we like to instill in our kids is safety. Before heading out, Kevin took his girls to the shooting range, equipped them with Walker’s ear protection, and helped them practice getting familiar with their hunting platforms. Once Chloe was settled in a Muddy Box Blind, she was treated to some exotic red stag sightings, a few small bucks, and she got a chance to put a shot on her very first doe!
Emily Giesecke is no stranger to hunting, and with her outdoor enthusiast father and younger sister Chloe by her side, this year she’s looking to bring home a buck to put food on the table. Using a Trijicon Riflescope to get the best shot placement possible, Emily put a shot on a great looking management buck. As any hunter knows, sometimes deer just run and run for miles. What resulted was an awesome opportunity to see how trackers put their dogs to work and utilize the Garmin Astro® 320 to cover miles worth of land to track a deer!
“Getting Kids Outdoors” can be streamed 24/7 on the Outdoor Action TV app, and is currently airing this week on a variety of networks. Check your local listings!
