Ladies and gentlemen, please join the Riverside Emergency Services Team Member's Association (RESTMA) on November 5th, 2016, to support the families of Palm Springs Police Department Officers Lesley Zerebny and Jose Gilbert "Gil" Vega. Both of these brave officers were killed in the line of duty.
Officers Zerebny and Vega responded to a domestic disturbance call on October 8th, 2016. While speaking to the suspect through the front screen door, the suspect opened fire with a rifle, striking both officers. Officer Zerebny served with the Palm Springs Police Department for 1½ years. She gave birth to her daughter, Cora, four months ago and just returned from maternity leave. Officer Zerebny's husband, Zachary, is a Deputy Sheriff employed by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Officer Vega served with the Palm Springs Police Department for 34 years. He was not scheduled to work on the day of the shooting but was working overtime due to minimum staffing. He was scheduled to retire in December of this year.
RESTMA is donating all proceeds from this event to the families of Officers Zerebny and Vega. Your entry fee, raffle tickets, and any additional donations will go directly to them.
The Shootist gun store has donated a Browning Hog Hunter chambered in .308. A private party has donated a .22LR Henry Youth Model with black receiver, Model H001Y. LWRCI has donated an LWRCI-DI 16" rifle. Glock has donated two Glock pistols. Numerous other items are also available for raffle, including a Bose stereo system, gift cards and gift baskets, and SKB weapon cases. Raffle tickets for firearms will be $20.00 each and are not gun specific; you do not have to be present to win the firearms. All other tickets are $5 and you must be present to win these items. There has been a tremendous amount of donations and support for this event. This event is limited to law enforcement only.
This will be a handgun only event. Entry fee is $20.00. Round count will depend on you but bring at least 250 rounds. All shooters are asked to shoot from duty belts (Sam Browne or thigh rig). Registration is at 0800 with the safety brief to follow.
