Salt Life Signs Multi-Year Partnership Expanding Pre-Eminent SUP Event to Three Days and Ensuring It Continues Through 2018
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., – SUP magazine is proud to announce Salt Life has returned as presenting sponsor of the 2016 Pacific Paddle Games. Debuting in 2015, the inaugural event was a resounding success and quickly established itself as the premiere SUP race in the world. Salt Life's three-year commitment expands the contest from two to three days and will ensure the event continues through 2018, with the option to add a fourth year. This year's Pacific Paddle Games presented by Salt Life will be held Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, at Doheny State Beach, a California State Park, in Dana Point, California.
"Salt Life is pleased to return as the presenting sponsor of the Pacific Paddle Games," said Salt Life President Jeff Stillwell. "The popularity of SUP is very exciting, and to be associated with the best of the sport's athletes at this first-class event continues to bring awareness of our growing brand to the West Coast and beyond. We also look forward to watching several of our Salt Life team members competing in the games."
"SUP magazine is ecstatic that Salt Life has renewed their partnership with the Pacific Paddle Games," SUP Editor-in-Chief Will Taylor said. "After the tremendous success of #PPG2015, we're looking forward to getting bigger and better together in 2016 and the years to come."
The 2016 Pacific Paddle Games will pick up where the successful 2015 event left off, offering the world's top professional racers exciting and innovative Technical (surf) and Distance race formats in an ideal event set up at Doheny State Beach over three full days of competition. Non-professional paddlers—from beginner to advanced—will also get their chance to compete on similar courses in Open and Junior divisions at the historical location.
This year's event will offer a live webcast and a $60,000 prize purse, the largest ever offered for a SUP event, as well as some new components, which will soon be announced.
"PPG is a world-class event that's at the forefront of this growing sport," said Salt Life Director of Marketing, Larry Laska. "The competition is intense and takes place at one of the most beautiful settings on the coast. Last year's swell was one of the best in years and provided for some exciting paddling. We are looking forward to seeing some record-breaking times at #PPG2016 presented by Salt Life this year."
