Internship (Two positions)
START & END DATE:
Funding is currently in place January 1, 2015
June 30, 2015. There is a possibility that the position can be extended through September 30, 2015. Minimum of twelve week commitment required.
PAY RATE:
$ 9.50 - 10.00/hour depending on experience

Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Each internship will be a multi-purpose position that rotates through five distinct sections within Eleven Mile and Spinney Mountain State Parks including: 1) interpretation/environmental education (I/EE); 2) aquatic nuisance species (ANS)inspector; 3) park ranger; 4) maintenance worker; 5) entrance attendant. The interns will rotate between the sections and spend a minimum of two and one half weeks in each section.
While working in the I/EE section, the intern will assist the GOCO funded interpreter in preparation of a wide variety of interpretive programs, getting equipment together, assisting parti cipants and possibly presenting portions.
In the ANS section, the intern will assist boat inspectors at boat ramps, educating boaters of the dangers of transporting aquatic nuisance species from one body of water to another, while explaining steps that should be taken to minimize the risk.
The intern will pass out educational materials and explain how to kill New Zealand Mud Snails and Eurasian Water Milfoil-two aquatic nuisance species found at Eleven Mile.
In the ranger section, the intern will assist rangers with validating campsite reservation cards, posting and removing reservation cards, pulling trash, cleaning fire rings, restocking restrooms with toilet paper, filling firewood bins and assisting rangers on land and water (boat) patrol.
