Leupold VX-6HD Gen 2 Riflescope Named ‘Best New Optic’

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Leupold & Stevens, Inc., provider of the world’s most rugged, lightweight, and clear sport optics, is pleased to announce the new-for-2025 VX-6HD Gen 2 has been given the Caliber Award for “Best New Optic” by the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) and the Professional Media Outdoor Association (POMA). Leupold & Stevens was presented with the award at the annual NASGW meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 14 in Grapevine, Texas.

To qualify for the Caliber Awards, a manufacturer must be a NASGW member in good standing, and the product must have been publicly released between the end of the previous year’s NASGW Expo and the beginning of the current year’s Expo.

“The VX-6HD Gen 2 wasn’t just a new product launch for us–it was the world’s best hunting riflescope getting even better,” said Bruce Pettet, President and Chief Executive Officer for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “It improves upon the industry-leading performance of its predecessors and delivers new features and enhancements that hunters worldwide will value. We’re proud that NASGW and the members of POMA–industry professionals with decades of experience–see that, too.”

For apex hunters, success is more than the pursuit. It’s about dominating any condition or environment–a goal made even more attainable with the next generation of Leupold’s legendary Gold Ring riflescope. The VX-6HD Gen 2 family offers six different models, four different reticle options, and is loaded with new features. Whether you’re climbing rugged peaks in search of a ram or chasing bugling elk at last light–no matter the hunt, your path forward with the VX-6HD Gen 2 is one of total dominance.

New is the innovative CDS-SZL2 dial, which eliminates the need for tools when zeroing or changing custom dials. By unlocking the lever on the SpeedSet dial, hunters will be able to reset the zero on their elevation and windage dials without having to use tools. The new dial features Leupold’s push-button ZeroLock system, eliminating accidental dial movement. The VX-6HD Gen 2 also includes competition-grade precision adjustments and an integrated throw lever, mirroring the award-winning aspects which define Leupold’s Mark series of riflescopes.

The VX-6HD Gen 2 is built around Leupold’s Professional-Grade Optical System, which delivers the light transmission, glare reduction, and resolution professional guides and shooters demand. It is compatible with Leupold’s Custom Dial System (CDS), allowing you to easily compensate for bullet drop and make ultra-quick elevation adjustments on the fly. Leupold will customize your scope’s elevation dial to match your exact load, muzzle velocity, and environmental conditions.

Every VX-6HD Gen 2 comes with two free CDS dials, and additional dials are available for a nominal fee.

The VX-6HD Gen 2 is available in six configurations: 1-6x24, 2-12x42, 3-18x44, 3-18x50, 3-18x56, and 4-24x52. Each configuration is available in multiple reticles, and all reticles/adjustments are in minute of angle (MOA).

The ultra-lightweight construction of the VX-6HD Gen 2 disperses recoil energy for unmatched durability, and the scopes are all waterproof, fogproof, and backed by Leupold’s legendary Full Lifetime Guarantee.

Like all Leupold riflescopes, the VX-6HD Gen 2 is proudly designed, machined, and assembled in the company’s factory in Beaverton, Oregon.
