MidwayUSA Foundation Sees Outstanding Results On Giving Tuesday

MIDWAYUSA FOUNDATION SEES OUSTANDING RESULTS ON GIVING TUESDAY

Columbia, MO – The season of giving kicked off with Giving Tuesday on December 3rd and the MidwayUSA Foundation received record donations for youth shooting teams. On this single day, online donations totaled $175,902. In addition, the Foundation added $150,000 in matching funds for a total of $325,902 to benefit youth shooting sports. The matching dollars were generously provided by Larry and Brenda Potterfield. That generosity allowed the MidwayUSA Foundation to add $.85 to every dollar received. For example, a donor’s $100 contribution turned to $185.

“I continue to be amazed at the magnitude of the generosity of our Foundation’s supporters. The kind hearts of the athletes, coaches, parents, families, and friends were definitely on display during Giving Tuesday. The opportunities the shooting sports provide to our nation’s youth is often underappreciated, but not by our donors,” said MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, G. Scott Reynolds. Giving Tuesday donations went to 180 youth shooting team endowments and 6 organizational endowments. Every dollar will grow the cash grant payout these teams and organizations are eligible to receive each year. Cash grants assist with expenses like ammunition, entry fees, targets, uniforms, and more.

This year, the $175,902 that rolled in on Giving Tuesday surpassed donation dollars brought in on Giving Tuesday 2017 and 2018, combined. G. Scott Reynolds continued, “Youth shooting team athletes learn discipline, respect, teamwork, and commitment, while simultaneously developing their confidence and leadership skills – all traits that will serve them well as developing adults. So, our donors have made contributions that extend beyond funding team expenses, rather they are investing in the athletes themselves. We at the Foundation, as well as the athletes, truly appreciate that support!”

The MidwayUSA Foundation continues to offer a match on every donation to youth shooting teams. For the remainder of 2019, there is $120,000 in monthly matching funds and the ratio of the match will depend on the total contribution dollars for the month. Donors can give directly to the team of their choice through the Foundation website (midwayusafoundation.org/donate) from anywhere in the country. Approximately 2,700 youth shooting teams have their own earmarked MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment that can receive donations. Donors will receive a tax receipt and 100% of the donation benefits the team of their choice, the Foundation keeps nothing for operational expenses.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain the shooting sports industry by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams.
