Team Vihtavuori shooter Bruce Piatt delivered a stellar performance at the 12th NRA World Action Pistol Championship, earning 2nd Place Overall, 2nd in the High Master Division, and 1st in the Senior Division. Piatt also contributed to the 1st Place Open Division Team representing the USA Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).
Competing for the 10th time on the world stage, Piatt described the experience as “just as exciting as my first.” Hosted by Pistol New Zealand and the Hamilton Pistol Club, in Hamilton, New Zealand, the championship featured four grueling stages of fire that tested competitors both physically and mentally.
“The competition was fierce through the four stages of fire,” said Piatt. “On the final day, the stress took its toll, preventing me from feeling my trigger as much as I needed. At this level, every point and tiebreaking X matters.”
Despite the pressure, relying on the .38 Super cartridge loaded with Vihtavuori N320 powder, Piatt posted an impressive overall score of 1918-179X, including perfect scores in both the Barricade and Falling Plates stages:
Piatt’s performance not only earned him top individual honors but also helped secure the Open Team Winner title for Team CMP USA.
“I’m proud to have posted this score and to be part of the winning team representing the USA,” Piatt added. “Congratulations to all the winners from across the globe. It was a pleasure competing with you, and I hope to see you on the range again soon.”
Vihtavuori congratulates Bruce Piatt on his outstanding achievements and continued excellence in competitive shooting.
