(Grand Island, Nebr.) — Hornady® congratulates sponsored shooters Sean Murphy and Greg Hamilton for their performance at the 2025 Tactical Games Sniper Challenge, held at the YO Ranch near Mountain Home, Texas on October 11-12, 2025.
Murphy and Hamilton had the highest score overall, and competed in the heavy division, meaning they completed the event wearing a 15 lb plate carrier. The match consisted of blind shooting stages with a variety of tasks and challenges.
Hamilton was the primary shooter, using Hornady 6.5mm 135 gr. A-Tip Match bullets in his 6.5 Creedmoor, while Murphy shot as the secondary shooter, using Hornady 223 Remington 73 gr. ELD Match ammo. Both competitors used 9mm 125 gr. HAP bullets in their pistols.
"The Tactical Games Sniper Challenge is a unique event that blends some of the physicality, such as performing while wearing a 15lb plate carrier and a long ruck; with the shooting challenges seen in other events that are either speed or precision based,” said Murphy. “Being a well-rounded team is essential to success and having a great ammunition that is capable of delivering rounds on target in fast and unknown conditions is essential," He added.
A-TIP® Match bullets feature an aluminum tip that’s precision machined and longer than polymer tips, that moves the center of gravity and enhances inflight stability, resulting in tighter groups and reduced drag variability. In addition, A-TIP bullets are sequentially packaged for the ultimate in consistent performance.
ELD® Match (Extremely Low Drag Match) bullets are technologically advanced, enhanced accuracy target bullets featuring Heat Shield® tips with the PERFECT MEPLAT (tip point) combined with numerous design features that deliver the highest-in-class ballistic coefficients, superior accuracy, and extreme consistency from bullet to bullet, lot to lot.
Hornady refined the XTP® design into the perfect competition projectile. The HAP (Hornady Action Pistol) bullet eliminates the serrations that aid in expansion on the XTP to create a sleek and balanced projectile. Precision-swaged cores and bullet jackets with industry-leading concentricity result in a bullet that delivers accuracy every time.
