Are you passionate about wildlife and dream of a career as a game warden, or perhaps as a fisheries or wildlife biologist? If so, the Oklahoma Wildlife Youth Camp is for you! Don't wait, the deadline to apply is April 15.
The Wildlife Youth Camp, hosted by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC), is a FREE and fantastic opportunity for young outdoor enthusiasts aged 14 to 16 to delve into the world of wildlife management. Conducted by experienced game wardens, wildlife and fisheries professionals, and dedicated hunters and anglers, this camp offers an immersive experience into the realm of wildlife and fisheries management and law enforcement.
Prepare for an exciting week packed with activities such as fishing, self-defense, archery, wildlife identification, rifle/shotgun shooting, ropes course challenges, wildlife management strategies, and even waterfowl/deer/turkey hunting techniques. Plus, gain valuable insights into wildlife law enforcement.
When and Where?
Mark your calendars for June 16-21, 2024, as the Wildlife Youth Camp takes place at the OU Biological Station near Kingston, Ok. This overnight, week-long camp is entirely free of charge! All applicants must have been enrolled in school the previous year.
How to Apply?
- Ensure you meet the age requirement.
- Write a brief essay (about 75 words) explaining why you wish to attend the camp, why you should be selected, and what you hope to learn.
- Provide one letter of recommendation from someone other than a family member.
- Submit a photograph of a recent outdoor-related event or activity.
