Frankfort, Kentucky - Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold "Shorty" Tomlinson, Carroll County Fiscal Court, the Kentucky Department of Parks and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will dedicate a new handicap accessible fishing pier at General Butler State Resort Park on Thursday, Nov. 12.
The new fishing pier is located on the General Butler State Resort Park Lake near the state park entrance, located approximately four miles south of Carrollton.
The pier was a partnership effort of Carroll County Fiscal Court, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and the Kentucky Department of Parks.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife used Sport Fish Restoration Fund dollars to purchase and install the fishing pier. Kentucky State Parks supplied location, signage and labor, and will provide general maintenance. Carroll County Fiscal Court supplied blacktop for the parking area and roadway leading to the pier.
"This is another example of how state and local government partnerships can produce and increase outdoor recreational opportunities for Kentuckians," said Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Dr. Jon Gassett.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the new fishing pier. The pier is located near the park entrance, about four miles south of Carrollton off KY 227.
