S3DA Names Stephanie Rustad Oregon State Coordinator

Louisville, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Stephanie Rustad as the S3DA Oregon State Coordinator. Stephanie is the new Archery Education Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Stephanie replaced Miranda Huerta, who left to pursue other endeavors. Stephanie learned about S3DA when she joined the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Stephanie’s goal is to double the number of S3DA clubs and teams in Oregon in 2019 and increase the number of tournaments, as well as tournament participants.

As the Oregon State Coordinator, Stephanie plans to pick up where Miranda left off. Stephanie will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Oregon, including tournaments, trainings and designation of regions that will allow S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Stephanie will recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage the east and west regions.

Stephanie Rustad attended Montana State University and received a degree in Business Management with a minor in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Rustad joined the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife crew and moved to Oregon in October. Rustad grew up in Northwest Washington and started bowhunting with her dad at the age of 12. Rustad became interested in archery when her dad asked her to go hunting with him at a young age. His entire life he had hunted with rifles, but Stephanie told him she did not like the bang of the gun, so she was going to Bowhunt. Neither Stephanie, nor her dad had ever shot a bow before, but soon became hooked. At 13, Rustad shot her first elk with her bow and it was an experience she said she would never forget.

Stephanie Rustad states, “I have a well-rounded archery background from not only bow hunting, but also shooting competitively, working in an archery shop throughout high school, and running an archery club. I look forward to continuing to grow archery and bowhunting participation in the State of Oregon”.

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving

thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
