Watching the Wild: Stealth Cam Supports Wildlife Monitoring in Georgia

Trail cameras will help document wildlife, monitor remote terrain and confirm species presence across Georgia.

Wild Giants Conservation Fund has announced Stealth Cam as an equipment sponsor of the Georgia Wildlife Monitoring Program, providing critical trail-camera technology to help document wildlife across the remote mountains of the High Caucasus.

The Georgian Wildlife Monitoring Partnership brings together Wild Giants, the Georgian Wildlife Agency and equipment partners to establish Georgia's first dedicated wildlife monitoring team. Beginning in September, an eight-person team will work year-round at elevations above 2,000 meters, gathering the information needed to better understand and protect the region's wildlife.

Stealth Cam is providing the team with DS4K Ultimate 32MP 4K Video trail cameras. The cameras will serve three critical roles: establishing a baseline for species including Bezoar ibex, Caucasian tur and Caspian red deer; identifying areas where poaching pressure may be occurring; and documenting the presence and distribution of species including Persian leopard, lynx and brown bear.

"Stealth Cam is proud to support Wild Giants and the Georgia Wildlife Monitoring Program. The work being done in the High Caucasus is about getting into the field, gathering real information and understanding the wildlife that still exists in this remarkable landscape. We're pleased to provide the equipment that will help the team document that wildlife and support the important work ahead", comments Spencer Semple, Senior VP of Marketing.

In a landscape this remote, the team can't be everywhere. Cameras can. That is the challenge facing the monitoring team—and exactly why dependable equipment matters.

"We're building a wildlife management system from the ground up," said Tanner Tripp, Founder and Executive Director of Wild Giants."The first step in bringing the wild back is knowing what remains. Stealth Cam is helping us see deeper into the mountains and understand the wildlife that still calls them home."
