New series weaves Jose Wejebe's original Spanish Fly footage with new Florida Keys fishing stories from the friends, family, and anglers he inspired
Spanish Fly Next Generation has launched on Field & Stream TV, bringing the late Captain Jose Wejebe's fishing legacy to a new audience through a series that cross-edits his original Spanish Fly footage with new adventures across the Florida Keys.
The series follows the friends, former coworkers, family members and anglers Jose influenced throughout his career, each sharing how his approach to fishing, teaching and conservation continues to shape the way they're on the water today. Archival scenes of Jose appear alongside present-day footage throughout each episode, giving longtime fans a chance to reconnect with his storytelling while introducing younger anglers to the lessons that made Spanish Fly a fixture of outdoor television.
The season kicked off with the tournament pressure of the Sport Fishing Championship and continues through episodes built around permit, bonefish and deep-dropping trips in the Keys, including an episode featuring Jose's own children fishing alongside his former castmates — a moment the production sees as the heart of what Spanish Fly Next Generation represents.
The series is produced by Spanish Fly Enterprises, which manages Jose Wejebe's media legacy, and is hosted by Captain James Marko, who brings both on-camera storytelling and production work to carry the show into its next chapter.
"My dad spent his career teaching people to understand the why behind every cast, not just the how," said Krissy Wejebe, Executive Director, Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation. "Spanish Fly Next Generation lets us keep that conversation going, through the people he influenced and the footage that first connected all of us to the water."
"Jose Wejebe is part of the reason outdoor television looks the way it does today, and Spanish Fly Next Generation belongs right alongside the shows our viewers already love," said Jamie Wilkinson, EVP, Outdoor America. "Captain James Marko and the Spanish Fly team have built something that honors Jose's legacy while giving our audience new stories to follow every week."
Spanish Fly Next Generation airs as part of Field & Stream TV's fourth-quarter 2026 schedule. The show's continued run supports the work of the Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation, which honors Jose's legacy through conservation education and by making fishing dreams come true for people facing life-impacting challenges.
