SCI Increases Support of Guide and Outfitter Grants Worldwide

Safari Club International's Guide and Outfitter Grant program exists to support the mission of guide and outfitter associations globally.

Interest in this program continues to grow, and SCI is proud to fund a variety of projects this year, including for education of the next generation of guides, antipoaching units in underserved areas, and increasing the profile of outfitters with the public and governments.

For over 20 years, these grants have increased their partnership of SCI directly with those on the ground protecting and promoting hunting. Engagement with the guide and outfitter associations provides a vital conduit for quick responses to changing political views and emergent issues that threaten hunting tourism.

SCI CEO W. Laird Hamberlin reflected on the importance of having knowledgeable and engaged hunting guides.

"I need to trust my guide to find success, not only in the field but in the meeting room. They are the local experts that often work with SCI to protect hunting."

Sustainable use and hunting as a wildlife management tool continues to be a battleground. Guides, outfitters, and their associations care deeply about the resources that support their livelihood. Often, they are the first to see trends, adjust for them, and advocate for better management.

This year's grants help to fund the greater mission of hunting. The hunting industry is made stronger with collaborations like these.

SCI President Jeff Meyer noted how SCI and hunters benefit from these strong partnerships.

"Guides and Outfitters are the backbone of SCI's annual Convention. Their support here helps us support them out there. It is one of the greatest partnerships in all of hunting."
