GLASGOW - As part of Bear Aware Month, FWP regional offices will take old bear spray cans throughout September. Expired or partially used bear spray canisters aren't safe to simply toss in the trash, and over time many Montanans end up with a box full of old cans gathering dust.
When do you need to replace your bear spray?
- If the bear spray has expired (they usually lasts 3-4 years...look for a date on the can)
- If the bear spray can is damaged
- If the bear spray has been partially used
In Region 6, take your old bear spray to:
- Glasgow- FWP Region 6 Headquarters, 1 Airport Road, M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Havre- FWP Region 6 field office, 2165 Hwy 2 East, M-F, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Take advantage of this short-term opportunity while it's available and help free up space in your basement or closet in the process. Then buy a new can and have it ready for hunting season and other recreational activities this fall!
In addition, when you drop off your old canisters, you can enter to win a bear spray storage canister.
