Sedalia, MO – Team SK's Jake Stine delivered a memorable performance at the 2026 New Mexico State Smallbore Silhouette Championships, capturing all three state titles while recording the first perfect score of his competitive career during competition held September 4-6 at the Lonesome Silhouette Club in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Stine earned State Championship honors in Standard Rifle, Hunter Rifle, and Grand Aggregate, posting an impressive overall score of 143/160. The defining moment of the weekend came during the first Hunter Rifle match when Stine knocked down all 40 targets for a flawless 40/40 score, marking the first perfect score he has achieved in sanctioned competition.
Competing against some of the Southwest's top silhouette shooters, Stine posted the following scores:
Standard Rifle
- Match 1: 36/40
- Match 2: 35/40
Hunter Rifle
- Match 1: 40/40
- Match 2: 32/40
"I've spent a lot of time this year focusing on consistency and execution," Stine said. "The perfect 40/40 wasn't something I was thinking about during the match. I was simply trying to stay focused on one target at a time and trust my training. To finally achieve that milestone in competition was incredibly satisfying."
Smallbore Rifle Silhouette is one of the shooting sports' most challenging disciplines, requiring competitors to shoot from the standing, unsupported position at steel chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams placed at distances of 40, 60, 77, and 100 meters. Shooters receive one point for each target knocked down, with a perfect score requiring all 40 targets to fall.
Stine's championship sweep and breakthrough perfect score add another significant accomplishment to an already decorated silhouette career and further strengthen Team SK's reputation for competitive excellence.
Next up for Stine is the international stage as he prepares to compete in October at the Mexico leg of the Lapua Monarch Cup at Club de Tiro Saltillo Safari in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. The Lapua Monarch Cup is a multinational series that brings together the top silhouette shooters from across North America to determine the continent's overall champions.
Stine enters the event as a two-time Lapua Monarch Cup Champion, looking to add another title to his resume against the best competitors from the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
