At the DNR, we believe the outdoors is for everyone! If you agree, help us spread the word about vacancies on the Accessibility Advisory Council, which helps guide the DNR in developing, managing and planning opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy Michigan's natural resources.
Right now, the DNR is seeking to fill two AAC vacancies within the next three to six months:
- One seat representing the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
- One seat representing Michigan's Indigenous community.
Brenda Henige, AAC executive sponsor and Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility coordinator, said that filling these vacancies could be especially helpful in enriching the council's broader understanding of and strengthening support for the needs of veterans and Indigenous residents.
"The Accessibility Advisory Council is all about improving our offerings, programs and services while creating better access to Michigan's natural and cultural resources," Henige said. "We believe tribal and veteran communities may have programs and activities that would complement what the DNR does, and that building closer relationships via the AAC can result in better overall opportunities and more rewarding experiences for these valued communities."
