Sparta, Wisconsin – Team Mathews delivered another commanding performance this past weekend at the USA Archery Outdoor Championships and U.S. Open in Springfield, Missouri, sweeping the Men's podium and claiming the top two spots in the Women's division at the Outdoor Championships before adding two more podium finishes in the U.S. Open.
The USA Archery Outdoor Championships and U.S. Open bring together the country's top compound archers for four days of outdoor target competition in Springfield, Missouri. Compound archers compete at a distance of 50 meters, putting a premium on accuracy and consistency throughout the competition. Together, the two events test both an archer's ability to produce a strong overall score and their ability to perform under the pressure of one-on-one competition.
To kick off the Outdoor Championships, Team Shooters Kyle Douglas, Jimmy Lutz, and Ace Coleman took first, second, and third place, sweeping the Men's podium with unprecedented performances.
Following their teammates' success, Olivia Dean and Katelyn Bordwell continued Team Mathews' momentum by taking first and second place in the Women's division, giving Mathews five out of the top six podiums for the overall event.
The U.S. Open portion of the weekend shifts to head-to-head elimination competition, where archers face off directly and must win their matches to advance through the bracket.
Team Shooter Stephan Hansen battled his way through the elimination rounds all the way to a second place finish in the Men's division adding yet another podium finish to the weekend for Team Mathews.
Following her Outdoor Championships victory, Olivia Dean kept the momentum rolling and capped off the weekend by winning the U.S. Open Women's division, completing a sweep of both individual titles.
