FWP Announces Public Comment Opportunities for the Week of August 3

HELENA – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on the following proposals. For more information, including how to submit comments, click on the link provided or visit fwp.mt.gov/public-notices.

Private Fish Pond License - Weissman

A private landowner, Irving Weissman, has applied for a private fish pond license for a pond located in Hamilton. The applicant previously had a license to plant rainbow trout in the pond for personal use and enjoyment but mistakenly allowed the license to expire. The applicant is seeking to re-license this pond to plant rainbow trout.

Comment deadline: Aug. 14

August 19 Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting agenda items

The comment deadline for most of the commission meeting agenda items has closed. However, there are two items still open for public comment:

  • Selection of Organizations to Auction Licenses
  • Comment deadline: Aug. 7
  • 2026 Furbearer/Wolf Hunting and Trapping Seasons, Quotas and Regulations
  • Comment deadline: Aug. 12

More information about these agenda items and comment deadlines is available on the commission meeting webpage. Commissioners can submit amendments to any of FWP's proposals. Those amendments will be posted to the webpage as needed and will be open for public comment.

Public comment opportunity will be offered during the meeting. In-person comments can be made at the meeting venue or at any FWP Regional Office throughout the state.

Comments can also be made during the meeting virtually via Zoom. If you wish to comment via Zoom, you MUST register. Registration opens Aug. 4 and closes at noon on Aug. 18.
