People can drop off empty or old bear spray canisters at Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks' regional office in Miles City during the month of September and enter to win a spray storage container.
FWP is collecting empty, partially empty or expired bear spray across the state for safe disposal during Bear Aware Month in September. Drop off your cans of spray and scan the QR code on the poster to be entered into a drawing for a spray storage canister.
Canisters are recommended to keep your spray secure, help achieve a safer temperature and prevent accidental discharge. Even if you use a storage container, you should never store bear spray in a hot vehicle or in direct sunlight.
