BLM Area Restrictions Extended Due to Big Rock Fire

Due to the ongoing fire suppression and repair activities related to the Big Rock Fire, the area recreation and camping closures on BLM-managed lands in the Kelly Canyon, Heise, and River Road Areas have been extended through Sunday, August 16, 2026. The temporary closures were put in place at the onset of the Big Rock Fire and now set to expire 11:59 p.m. August 16 unless otherwise announced. These measures are necessary to provide protection to both the public and fire professionals as they travel along the Heise/S. Snake River/Kelly Canyon Roads.

Area closures related to Cress Creek Nature Trail and Stinking Springs trail, and all other hiking and biking trails in the Kelly Canyon and Heise areas remain in effect as well.
