
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine – The Maine Warden Service is investigating a fatal ATV crash that involved two fifteen-year-old males riding in a side-by-side ATV in Fort Fairfield yesterday evening.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. last night (8/16/26), the two fifteen-year-olds were riding in a 2026 CF Moto Z Force side-by-side in a field behind 9 Old East Road in Fort Fairfield. The 15-year-old who was driving the side-by-side ATV turned hard to the left while accelerating, causing the front of the machine to lift and skid before rolling over and coming to rest. The 15-year-old passenger passed away at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The operator was transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger were not wearing helmets or using seatbelts.
The Maine Warden Service was assisted at the scene by Fort Fairfield Fire and Ambulance, Presque Isle Ambulance, and Caribou Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation. This release will be updated if any new information becomes available.
