Springfield, Missouri – Women For Gun Rights Missouri (WGR-MO) is proud to announce a full day of free educational presentations on school safety and active shooter response featuring subject matter expert Ed Monk on Thursday, July 30, at the Hatch Auditorium at The Library Center in Springfield.

Designed for parents, educators, school administrators, school board members, legislators, law enforcement officers, and concerned citizens, the event will provide practical, research-based information on active shooter incidents and strategies to help schools better protect students and staff.

The day includes three presentation sessions:

  • 8:30 a.m. – Noon:School-Focused Summary of the Active Shooter Problem & How to Minimize Victims
  • 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.:Critical Law Enforcement Lessons Learned from Active Shooter Attacks
  • 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.:School-Focused Summary of the Active Shooter Problem & How to Minimize Victims (repeat)

As part of the program, Roger Moore of Peacekeepers Training will provide an overview of Missouri's School Protection Officer (SPO) Program, highlighting recent legislative improvements and explaining how the program offers schools another effective option for enhancing campus security.

Women For Gun Rights strongly supports Missouri's School Protection Officer program and hopes this event will increase awareness among parents, educators, and policymakers about the program's role in protecting students.

"Parents are the key to making schools safer," said Susan Myers, Missouri State Director of Women for Gun Rights. "We hope to arm attendees with a clearer understanding of the active shooter problem so that they can steer their districts towards establishing more effective safety policies, including use of the expanded SPO program."

Ed Monk's presentations draw on decades of experience studying active shooter incidents and training schools and law enforcement agencies across the country. Attendees will gain valuable insight into lessons learned from past tragedies, emergency response considerations, and practical measures schools can implement to reduce the potential for loss of life.

Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
