Two-time Olympian Derrick Mein led the USA Sporting Clays Team to a gold medal in the Men Senior Team title at the 48th World FITASC Championships. The event drew the world's best clay shooters to Lisbon, Portugal, and the Vale das Pedras Shooting Club. The championships ran from July 16-19, 2026.
Mein, the 2016 FITASC World Champion, along with his American teammates Todd Hitch, Joseph Fanizzi, and Gebben Miles, combined to defeat a strong international field by nine targets over the Runner-up team from France. Mein's stellar individual performance led him to a bronze medal in the Open Division. His score of 186 qualified him for a shoot-off for the silver medal, but Mein fell short to a competitor from France.
