The Glendive Rifle Range will be closed starting Wednesday, July 29 at 8 p.m. until Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m. The range closure is due to cultural and heritage surveys being conducted at the range for a proposed improvement project.
The rifle range is located on Highway 200 on the west side of Glendive on Department of Natural Resources & Conservation school trust land. It is operated by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks because it was previously in Makoshika State Park but was moved off site for safety reasons.
The survey work is being conducted because FWP is looking at adding long-distance shooting options at the range.
It is possible that the range will reopen earlier Friday if the survey work is completed.
