
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal boating accident that occurred Saturday on Lake Michigan.
At approximately 11:34 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the Hammond Marina after receiving a report that a boat had struck the marina's break wall. Six individuals were on board at the time of the collision.
One passenger was located on the break wall unresponsive. CPR was initiated, and the individual was transported to a local hospital. Herman Woods, age 66, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Hammond Police Department, Hammond Fire Department, and the Lake County Coroner's Office.
