A section of the Flathead River will close to boating temporarily starting July 8 at 7 a.m. while crews work to install steel girders as part of the ongoing Sportsman's Bridge project on Montana Highway 82 (MT 82) northwest of Bigfork.
The Flathead River will be closed approximately 20 feet upstream and 500 feet downstream of Sportsman's Bridge on MT 82 from 7 a.m. on July 8 through 6 p.m. on July 9.
The closure applies to all motorized and non-motorized watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, rafts, and paddleboards. The Sportsman's Bridge Fishing Access Site will remain open during this time for boaters traveling southbound (downstream) on the river toward Flathead Lake.
