Women for Gun Rights Applauds Unanimous Supreme Court Decision Affirming Constitutional Protections

Coffeyville, KS โ€” Women for Gun Rights applauds the United States Supreme Court's unanimous decision in United States v. Hemani, reaffirming that constitutional rights cannot be stripped away based on broad assumptions rather than individualized evidence. In its decision, the Court held that the federal government's application of 18 U.S.C. ยง 922(g)(3) to prohibit firearm ownership solely because an individual is an unlawful user of marijuana violated the Second Amendment.

The Court recognized an important constitutional principle: fundamental rights cannot be denied simply because the government places an entire category of people into a disfavored class without demonstrating that they pose a genuine danger. The ruling reinforces that the Second Amendment deserves the same constitutional respect afforded to every other protected right.

"This decision is about far more than marijuana," said Dianna Muller, Founder of Women for Gun Rights. "For years, marijuana users have been broadly singled out and vilified as though they are inherently dangerous, despite no individualized evidence to support that claim. As Second Amendment advocates, we've seen this same playbook used against America's most popular rifle platform. The AR-15 has been demonized based on fear and misinformation rather than facts, and millions of responsible owners have been unfairly stigmatized because of it. Constitutional rights cannot depend on political narratives or emotional rhetoric."

Women for Gun Rights believes the Supreme Court's decision serves as an important reminder that constitutional freedoms are not subject to shifting public opinion or selective enforcement. The organization remains committed to defending the rights of law-abiding Americans and ensuring that public policy is rooted in constitutional principles rather than prejudice.

As courts continue to evaluate Second Amendment challenges, Women for Gun Rights encourages lawmakers and policymakers to reject arbitrary classifications that target responsible citizens and instead uphold the individual liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.
