Leupold & Stevens, Inc., provider of the world's most rugged, lightweight, and clear sport optics, is pleased to announce the launch of "Marco Polo: Bowhunting the Impossible," a new film from Leupold Pro Team member Pedro Ampuero.
The film follows Ampuero as he utilizes archery equipment and spot-and-stalk methods to pursue one of the world's most challenging-to-hunt game animals: the Marco Polo sheep. Deep in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, Ampuero's pursuit pushes him beyond the limits as he tries to complete an epic journey.
"Pedro Ampuero isn't just one of the most relentless hunters in Europe; he's one of the most relentless hunters in the entire world," said Kayley Anderson, Hunting Marketing Manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. "His passion and drive are unmatched, and they make him precisely the kind of hunter, brand ambassador, and person that resonates with the Leupold Core. Congratulations to him on an incredible accomplishment and the launch of a fantastic film."
"Marco Polo" is a film about testing one's limits, never giving up, and confronting adversity. Marco Polo sheep are incredibly difficult to bowhunt on foot in their natural, unforgiving habitat, and footage of such a feat has never been shared.
Ampuero, who grew up in Bilbao, Spain, has been hunting since childhood. He fell in love with archery hunting as a teenager and is now one of the world's most well-known and well-watched bowhunters. His pursuit of an archery Marco Polo was three years in the making, from first edition to final edit.
In the film, he battles extreme weather, difficult stalks, and life-threatening emergencies to his companions as he chases what will soon become the World Record Tian Shan Argali (Marco Polo sheep). At his side, and critical to his success, was the new-for-2026 Leupold BX-6 Range HD rangefinding binocular.
"I have spent years hunting Marco Polo with my bow, chasing something that once seemed impossible," Ampuero said. "When my moment finally came, I was able to trust my shot completely because of the ballistic technology I had on-hand in Leupold's BX-6 Range HD. The Precision Cut Archery software saved me time, saved me stress, and provided real-time archery ballistics that no one else can provide. Without it, I'd be telling a very different story and still be up there, chasing."
Precision Cut Archery (PCA) software uses your arrow weight, arrow velocity, peep height, and environmental conditions to calculate extremely accurate archery ballistic solutions. By including your atmospheric conditions when sighting in and setting up sight tapes, Leupold provides accurate shoot-to distances at all elevations and angles, corrected to your sight-in tape. It is available now in Leupold's BX-6 Range HD.
"Marco Polo: Bowhunting the Impossible" was premiered in Madrid on June 4 and released worldwide on YouTube on June 7. It can be viewed at YouTube.com/@PedroAmpueroHunting.
