Junior Ranger Programs Offered During July at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park

Registration for three Junior Ranger Programs scheduled for July at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park will begin at 8 a.m. on June 22. The fun and informative programs cover a variety of topics and are geared towards children from six to twelve years old, although all ages are welcomed. The programs are free to attend, but advance registration is required.

July programs include:

  • July 2: Rockin' Rock Art with Upper Missouria Breaks National Monument education specialist Rey Davis
  • July 9: Talkin' Tipis with OPI Indian Education specialist Mike Jetty and FWP AmeriCorps member Alysa
  • July 16: All About Montana Bats with park ranger Andy Keller

To sign up for the July classes, visit montanastateparks.reserveamerica.com/ Search under "Find an Adventure" for First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park, and look under the "Tour List" tab. You may also call Reserve America at 855-922-6768 to register starting June 22.

Classes are capped at 25 students and are offered each Thursday morning at 10 a.m. throughout the summer. A parent or adult guardian must accompany their children for the classes and stay for the duration of the program. The programs typically have a large waiting list of children who wish to attend, so park staff ask that those unable to attend please call the park to cancel so their seat may be offered to another child.

The park is 3.5 miles north of Ulm, just off Interstate 15 at exit 270. For directions or more information about First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park visit: stateparks.mt.gov/first-peoples-buffalo-jump/
