
BOZEMAN – Whether you enjoy live music, a deep dive into Montana history, or a close look at wildlife, state parks in southwestern Montana have a variety of events planned for everyone.

Missouri Headwaters State Park
Missouri Headwaters State Park's summer speaker series is back with another exciting lineup of guests each weekend through mid-August. Each event begins at 7 p.m. near the park office. - June 13: Music from Montana singer and songwriter Rob Quist
- June 20: Music from Montana singer and songwriter Buck Buchanan
- June 27: Learn about amphibians and reptiles with guest speaker Matt Bell
- July 4: Join AmeriCorps member Cassidy Goering for a paint and sip event where you'll learn how to paint a meadowlark while taking in the beautiful views at the park. Please call the park to sign up for this event.
- July 11: Guest speaker Ken Sinay will present John Colter: The man and the mythology. This event also includes a mini John Colter race starting at 5 p.m. with a free barbeque at 6 p.m.
- July 18: Guest speaker Claire Kirk, a beaver conflict resolution technician, will present Living with Beavers: Coexistence and conservation
- July 25: Learn about bear safety with FWP recreation technician Nancy Milewski
- 8: Wildlife photographers and authors Lea Frye and Scott Bealer will present Wildlife through the lens
- 15: Humanities Montana speaker Louise Fischer will present Living with the Land, a look at native American history, ways of life, storytelling and much more
Missouri Headwaters State Park is about 5 miles northeast of Three Forks on Trident Road.
Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park
Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park is best known for guided tours of one of the largest limestone caves in the Northwest. This includes two tour options, both of which are available through Sept. 30 by reservation only.
The park also offers trails, campgrounds, two visitor centers, and an extensive lineup of interpretive events happening each weekend. Programs are subject to change without notice. Here's a look at events happening this month.
Friday night programs are presented by park staff and begin at 8 p.m. at the campground amphitheater:
- June 12: Tick Talk – Learn how to venture forth into tick country
- June 19: Exoplanet Extravaganza – Explore planets outside our solar system
- June 26: 3 Dog Night – Learn about wild canines
The Saturday night speaker series includes guest experts presenting on a variety of topics. Each talk begins at 8 p.m. at the campground amphitheater.
- June 13: A presentation by Katherine Hodge of Museum of the Rockies
- June 20: Cultural history, stories and music of the Crow Tribe with Franco Littlelight
- June 27: A presentation by AmeriCorps member Sam Neider on how to plant and disperse seeds of native plants
In addition, Lewis & Clark Caverns is hosting a weekend-long interpretive event June 26-28 called "Caverns Corps of Discovery." This summer camp is filled with numerous educational programs throughout the weekend centered around perfecting your outdoor skills. Orientation for the weekend begins at 7 p.m. on June 26. The cost of this event is $36, which includes a campsite in the group-use area. Space is limited to five campsites, each of which allows up to eight guests. Participants will receive an Adventurer's Passport, as well as a certificate of achievement upon completion. To learn more or to sign up for this event, call 406-287-3541, extension 9.
