Driving Conservation with AZSFWC License Plate Grants

Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation (AZSFWC) recently completed their 2nd Quarter Grant assessment by awarding $80,000 in grants from their L. Gary Stinson Grant Fund to the AZ Deer Association ($30K) and Conservation First USA ($50K).

AZSFWC's Stinson Grants focus on three categories: Habitat Conservation, Conservation Education, and Youth Recruitment and Retention. This quarter's grants fall into the Habitat Conservation segment of the program. The AZ Deer Association grant will help fund a water pipeline project over eight miles long to eleven different catchments on the Tonto National Forest (TNF), and the Conservation First USA grant will help fund a mastication project managed by the Salt River Project also on the TNF.

The L. Gary Stinson Grant Fund is made possible by the revenue generated from the AZSFWC "Conserving Wildlife" license plate program in cooperation with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). For each plate purchased, ADOT donates $17 to AZSFWC's Grant Fund.

Year to date in 2026, AZSFWC has awarded $125,425 to 8 Arizona non-profit organizations.

This round of funding has pushed AZSFWC's grant awards to $2,067,728 since 2010, funding 301 projects, events, and conservation education opportunities across Arizona.

AZSFWC's drive to fund conservation in Arizona is full steam ahead.
