In recognition of National Safe Boating Week, Wildlife Forever and Discover Mediaworks, are encouraging boaters across the country to prioritize safety, conservation, and responsible recreation through the national Safe Boating Clearinghouse, Safe-Boating.com.
Developed through the Getting Families Fishing & Boating program, Safe-Boating.com was a collaborative project with the U.S. Coast Guard, serving as a free online resource connecting boaters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts with boating safety certification opportunities. Additional materials include educational videos, conservation resources, and public awareness tools designed to promote safe and responsible time on the water.
The clearinghouse provides direct access to state boating safety certification information and educational materials focused on life jacket use, navigation safety, emergency preparedness, and responsible boating practices. In addition to boating safety, the platform also highlights conservation education and aquatic invasive species prevention efforts through the national Clean Drain Dry campaign.
Through integrated resources and public service messaging, users can learn practical steps to help stop the spread of invasive species by cleaning watercraft and equipment, draining water from boats and live wells, and drying gear before entering another body of water.
"Safe boating and conservation stewardship go hand in hand," said Pat Conzemius, President & CEO of Wildlife Forever. "Every boater has an important role to play in protecting our waters, preventing the spread of invasive species, and ensuring outdoor recreation remains safe and enjoyable for future generations."
National Safe Boating Week (May 16-22nd) serves as the official launch of the summer boating season and reminds all recreational boaters to wear life jackets, complete boating safety training, and follow local water safety regulations.
Boaters and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to visit Safe-Boating.com to access free educational resources, boating certification information, and where to find watercraft inspection and cleaning stations.
