Water Safety Grant Applications to Be Accepted May 18

Grant applications focusing on water safety, especially for children, will be received by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission from May 18 through June 18, 2026.

The Josh the Otter Water Safety Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations committed to educating children and communities about the importance of water safety.

Funding is intended to expand and enhance efforts that teach lifesaving skills and awareness, with a particular focus on preventing childhood drowning.

Grant recipients may use funds to develop or deliver educational programming, outreach initiatives, and resources that promote safe behaviors in and around water, such as life jacket loaner stations. Through this program, Josh the Otter aims to equip children and families with the knowledge needed to stay safe in aquatic environments.

Grant winners will be notified in July.
