FWP to Auction Confiscated Antlers, Hides and Horns

Antlers, horns, hides, mounts and skulls that were confiscated by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks enforcement from all regions of the state will be auctioned on Saturday, June 27, at the Expo Center at MetraPark in Billings. National Auction will run the live auction.

Most of the items for sale come from poaching incidents. Montana statute requires FWP to sell seized items at public auction. This includes all birds, animals, fish, heads, hides, teeth or other parts of any animal other than a grizzly bear. When a carcass is confiscated, FWP donates the meat to a charitable organization and removes the antlers to be sold at auction. When enough inventory is collected, FWP schedules an auction. The last auction, held in 2023, raised over $82,000 for FWP's conservation and restoration programs.

Doors open at 8 a.m. for inspection and the live auction begins at 10 a.m. The auction is open to the public and free to attend. Participants can register to bid at the door with photo ID. The Expo Center at MetraPark is located at 308 6th Avenue North in Billings.
