GREAT FALLS - Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is looking for an individual to fill a seat on the Upper Missouri River Fisheries Management Plan Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC).
This committee helps provide input and information needed by FWP to make informed decisions regarding fisheries management within the plan area. The upper Missouri River Reservoir Plan area includes Canyon Ferry, Hauser, and Holter Reservoirs, along with the associated Missouri river fisheries between Toston Dam and Holter Dam. They comprise some of the most heavily fished waters in Montana, accounting for around ten percent of the entire statewide angling pressure.
The existing management plan can be viewed HERE.
A diverse group of members comprising the CAC is important to advocate for the various stakeholder categories that are affected by fisheries management decisions. There is currently one open position to represent any of the following stakeholder categories:
- Unaffiliated coldwater anglers
- Ice-fishing anglers
- Conservation groups
- Kid's fishing
- Fishing tournament organizer
- Landowner
- Outfitter
- Local government
- Other interest
The CAC typically meets at least once a year, typically in Helena. FWP will reimburse mileage and provide lunch for CAC members' travel to and from meetings. It is anticipated that the person selected will serve on the CAC until the current plan expires in 2029.
Contact Helena area biologist Nathan Jaksha with questions about the application process at 406-495-3263, or nathan.jaksha@mt.gov.
Please review the application materials carefully before applying. Applications must be received no later than June 12, 2026
