Berger shooter Dustin Flint successfully defended his title and captured the 2026 Spindletop Regional Champion honor with an impressive grand aggregate score of 141/160.
The 2026 Spindletop Regional Championship was held March 29–30 at the Golden Triangle Gun Club in Beaumont, Texas. The annual two-day event challenged competitors with a demanding course of fire consisting of an 80-shot Smallbore Standard Rifle match and an 80-shot Smallbore Hunter Rifle match. Shooters fired a total of 160 shots for score, with two 40-shot matches conducted each day.
Targets featured traditional metallic silhouettes of animals—chickens at 40 meters, pigs at 60 meters, turkeys at 77 meters, and rams at 100 meters—testing both precision and wind-reading skills.
Flint, who competes in smallbore using Lapua Super Long Range ammunition, reflected on his performance following the win: "The shooting season started late for me this year, so I didn't quite know what to expect. I'm happy with my shooting and with the equipment's performance. I'm extremely happy to win against such elite competition! The conditions on Saturday were challenging to say the least. This is my third season shooting Lapua Super Long Range and I'm more impressed with it every time we shoot in the wind. It's by far the best ammo I've ever shot."
Flint will compete next at the Berger-sponsored Berger Short Course Grand Prix in Zwolle, Louisiana, on April 18.
