Spotted Eagle Lake Tree Reef Habitat Project Draft Checklist EA
Spotted Eagle Lake is an old gravel barrow pit that was created during construction of the highway interchange. Spotted Eagle is a developed site for multiple types of recreation including fishing, swimming, sunbathing, archery and trap shooting. As a man-made gravel pit, Spotted Eagle lacks fish habitat and substrate diversity, which is important to sport fisheries. A 404 Permit and EA were previously completed for this same habitat effort and was successful at improving fish habitat. Fish surveys demonstrated that fish gravitated toward the tree reefs and were presumably using them for hiding cover and spawning substrate. The current application seeks authorization to continue this project for the next 10 years.

Logan Public Shooting Range – Acquisition and Development
FWP is proposing to acquire an approximately 86-acre easement from the Montana Department of Natural Resources & Conservation (DNRC) as a preliminary step in the anticipated development of a formalized public shooting range. FWP submitted an easement application to DNRC on Jan. 16, 2025. The proposed easement would facilitate the development of a formal public shooting range located along the I-90 corridor, approximately 2 miles south of Logan. FWP has released this draft EA to review the environmental impacts associated with the proposed acquisition and development.
