Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation (AZSFWC) recently completed their 1st Quarter Grant assessment with $45,425 in grants from their L. Gary Stinson Grant Fund awarded to six Arizona non-profit organizations.
AZSFWC's Stinson Grants focus on three types of grant categories; Habitat Conservation, Conservation Education, and Youth Recruitment and Retention.
- One grant dealt with Habitat: Southern Arizona Quail Forever will be continuing their work on the Coronado National Forest Grassland Restoration project.
- One grant centered on Education: Arizona Council of Trout Unlimited (AZTU) will be hosting their 17th Annual Native and Wild Trout Conference.
- Four grants focused on Youth: Arizona Outdoor Adventures' Summer Youth Camps, Arizona Elk Society's Wapiti Weekend, Arizona State Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation's Marvin Robbins Memorial Youth Turkey Hunt Camps and Into the Wild Outdoors' Annual Family Fishing Camp.
The L. Gary Stinson Grant Fund is made possible by the revenue generated from the AZSFWC "Conserving Wildlife" license plate program in cooperation with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). For each plate purchased, ADOT donates $17 to AZSFWC's Grant Fund.
