Renowned hunting and fishing writer and editor Skip Knowles has been named Editor-in-Chief at Sporting Classics Magazine.
"I tried to hire Skip a few years back," says publisher Duncan Grant. "He seemed perfect for this position at Sporting Classics. He'd been at the helm of seven popular magazines in the outdoors and luxury lifestyle niches. He'd hosted both TV shows and video series on outdoor adventures. He was an award-winning writer for a major daily newspaper covering the Olympics, and he'd hunted and fished all over the planet. He seemed exactly the right person to be the 'face' of our company. However, at the time, we just couldn't work it out."
Skip is ecstatic at the new opportunity to help bring a broad vision to the sophisticated Sporting Classics print and digital readership.
"I've long been a fan of this 45-year-old magazine, and there is no team in the industry more passionate about their iconic brand than the folks that work there," he says. "Joining this crew is a dream come true and I can't wait to help build on everything they've created."
As Editor-in-Chief, Knowles takes the reins of the outdoor industry's leading magazine for active sportsmen who seek the best of hunting and fishing worldwide.
"As a recovering magazine editor," says Sporting Classics TV host and producer Chris Dorsey, "I've been a big fan of the magazine for a few decades. Given Skip's diverse, multi-media background, he's a natural fit for Sporting Classics to guide them into the future."
