Bear and Son Introduces Razor Trapper

Bear & Son Cutlery® has introduced the newest addition to its collectible Abalone Series of knives, the 3" Razor Trapper™, a folding design featuring genuine abalone handles and two Damascus steel blades.

Only 250 of the Abalone Razor Trappers have been manufactured, with each numbered individually. No two are exactly alike due to the unique individual patterns of the colorful abalone handles and the Damascus steel used in each of the blades. Part of the Bear & Son Custom Heritage Series, each knife has long-pull nail marks, a special tang stamp, strong brass liners, nickel silver bolsters and a special inlaid shield. Each knife is manufactured to exacting specifications in a series of 91 hand steps, and comes packaged in a special tin box.

Small and compact, this knife fits easily into any pocket. Although it has special appeal to collectors, the knife remains fully functional with two ultra-sharp, full-length Damascus steel blades, including a straight razor for fine cutting tasks and a clip point blade for day-to-day use.

Bear & Son Cutlery is the first commercial knife manufacturer offering knives with Damascus blades, renowned for their toughness and edge-holding ability. Modern Damascus steel is a lamination of folded steels, ground and polished to expose the layers. The signature Damascus patterns are formed when carbon trace elements form swirls in the steel mix, creating striking patterns when the steel is forged. Known as the "Steel of the Ancients," a Damascus blade edge displays tiny saw-tooth carbides when viewed under a microscope, enabling the blade to cut even when it feels dull to the touch.

Like all Bear & Son Cutlery products, the Abalone Razor Trapper is proudly made in the U.S.A. in Bear & Son Cutlery's fully self-contained factory. Unlike knife-makers who assemble knives from parts bought from various suppliers, Bear & Son Cutlery does everything in-house, from building blanking dies to heat treating, grinding and assembly, and hand-finishing of products. This allows Bear & Son Cutlery to maintain high standards of quality while offering affordable products.
