The Cheboygan Lock, managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and located in the city of Cheboygan, reopened today after being closed since Thursday.
Contractors worked through the weekend to fabricate and install the needed parts, repairing both downstream miter gates. Following the curing period, the final inspection and work were completed this afternoon.
The lock is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sept. 21. As the season winds down, hours vary. The facility closes Oct. 21 for the season. Check the season schedule for more information.
