Arizona State Parks and Trails Announces Several Opportunities for Outdoor Recreation Projects

Phoenix – Arizona State Parks and Trails is offering funding for Motorized, Non-Motorized, and Diverse trail projects. Funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) for Outdoor Recreational Sites is also available. Both grant cycles open October 10, 2018.

Motorized/Non-Motorized applications are due March 1, 2019.

Land and Water Conservation Fund applications are due February 1, 2019.

Motorized & Non-Motorized Grant Opportunities

Approximately two million dollars is available to award to selected projects. Funding may be used for trail development and trail maintenance projects for pedestrian uses such as hiking, running, and ADA-accessibility improvements. Acceptable projects also include trail development and maintenance for bicycling, equestrian, off-road motorcycling, all-terrain vehicle riding, four-wheel driving, or use of other off-road motorized vehicles. Eligible applicants include governmental entities (cities, towns, counties, Tribal governments, state and federal agencies) as well as non-profit organizations and clubs.

Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)

LWCF applicants may request up to $200,000 per project. Funding may be used for outdoor recreation facilities, accessibility upgrades, acquisition of park lands, baseball and soccer fields, bike parks, pools, and playground equipment.

Eligible applicants include governmental entities (cities, towns, counties, Tribal governments, state and federal agencies). Non-profits and clubs are not eligible for the LWCF.
